I am in a passenger jet heading south My preference is for the dark
But now
Here I am flying toward the light
Brighter and hotter and not my natural habitat As that’s
Moon bathed in electric light.
But here I am flying toward the light. Lifted by six pairs of wings
Happy
Then we land
I take refuge flat against the luggage lockers Hurt.
Not by the flight, the light, the heat, the day But by
‘Were it not a moth but a butterfly,’ they say.
