Beneath the slab lies Geoffrey Or at least a bit
Atop inscribed an epitaph Upon which is writ
Here lies Geoffrey’s ear Kneel
Place a finger in here (A hole)
Shout (Holler)
Cheer cheer cheer
And on the third it’s clear A sheep will appear.
But beware!
The visitors at once pronounce
‘What fun! A sheep in here While we’re here
Too.
So avant-garde, surreal, nouveau We must have a go.’
So secretly, people, holiday people, happy normal people, people out for fun, a weekend break, children too, no scruples, while no one is looking
Kneel Insert And shout
‘Three cheers for Geoffrey Hip hip hooray,
Hip hip hooray, Hip hip hooray
And with no ceremony, thunderclap, delay Indeed no
Sheep
Instead they cannot hear a peep They are rendered irreversibly deaf.
They scream and run left ‘I’m ill or in a dream’
Or right
‘It would seem.’
When through the Tannoy Just sufficient to annoy the other visitors Whispers
‘Tis the curse of mutton Jeff Cockney rhyming slang for deaf.’
